Colin: Eric! How does this make you feel?
Eric: [waking up and thinking] Why is Colin holding a Maxi Pad?
After a few seconds,
a few CONFUSING seconds,
I realized what he was holding.
A bloody tissue from blowing his nose.
This is cancer boys idea of a “wake up call.”
Avastin, as we stated before,
effects the tumors ability to hijack his circulatory system
and force it to grow blood vessels to fuel the tumor.
No blood = no fuel = starved tumor = dead tumor.
However, the drug effects the protein being utilized by healthy cells too.
Particularly, the smaller vessels in his nose.
They’re weaker.
And bleeding more is also a problem.
Weak blood vessels + Increase Bleeding = Blood congested sinuses.
And since his nose is symmetrical,
so are his bloody tissues.
One roommate didn’t understand why the bathroom trash can
always looked like a murderers clean up scene.
Also, Christine reports that sometimes in the middle of the night
Colin rolls over with a wad of tp sticking out of his nose.
And sometimes, in his sleep-nose-blowing state,
he unknowingly tosses the bloody wads behind the bed.
She makes him fix it in the morning.
Stay Positive. Do the Work.
