Afinitor (everolimus)

New chemotherapy!
New side effects!

There really isn’t anyway to make a poppin’ ad for this shit…

During the Avastin treatment,
(see previous post)

Colin’s nurse discussed what side effects are common with the new drug.
Of coarse, anything is possible when it comes to chemo…
And we’ll get to them.

You can read more about Afinitor below,
but, lets be honest,
none of us really understand what the hell they’re talking about.

Medical News Today
National Cancer Institute

Basically, after the nurse dumbed it down for me,
this is what I understand:

Everolimus tells the tumor cells not to divide,
through some complex chemical mumbo jumbo.

If the cells never divide, they don’t multiply,
and the tumor doesn’t grow.

The cells live their life
and eventually die of old age,
childless and alone.

Almost makes you feel sorry for it, huh?

And, yeah, I know thats not funny.

Stay Positive. Do the Work.

  1. First of all,I want to congratulate you and your family for making this blog, and especially you,for being so positive.I think your blog really helps people dealing with the same problem and their families…including me.My mom has the same brain cancer as you and she found out about it in september, last year.

I have a question…Why did you stop taking temodar?I`m asking you this, becouse my mom is also taking temodar+radiation(for almost 1 month) and our doctor never told us about everolimus.

Ps : Congratulation for the MRI result :D
