Hawaii: Day 1

The House
Thank you for your generosity, Kelly.
The house was amazing.

This house was donated to us by Kelly.
We’ve never met her.
Nor have we ever spoken to her.

Somehow, Arbine knows her.
And again, we’d never met Arbine until
coming to Hawaii.

Amazing kindness from strangers.

The first day,
Christine Davis and I went to the grocery.
Which, is expensive in Hawaii,
but we got a Waikiki Card
(which is like the Kroger MVP Card)
and it knocked almost 50% off.

We got enough food to last the week.
Travel Tip: Eating at home is always
cheaper than eating out.

Soy Sauce

Soy sauce is big here.
That reminds me…
…I have another video of Colin
doing something stupid.
Later.

Additionally, Ryan and Shar,
two off our Hawaiian friends
had met us the night before with groceries.

Staples, that they knew would be expensive.

Milk.
Yogurt.
Flaxseed Oil.
Bottled water.

Not only that,
but did you see the rental car?
They paid for that, too.

The first day, we took it easy.

Pineapple Plantation

Colin visited the Dole Pineapple Plantation.

We went and saw the still sunken
USS Arizonia in Pearl Harbor.

Dr Pepper

Colin drank
a Dr. Pepper
for the first time
since being diagnosed.
(He’s on vacation damnit)

He had to wear the ski cap
to keep his head from burning…

Flee Market

We went to the Aloha Stadium…
…which is a giant flee market
when they’re not having games there.

Beautiful Hawaii
And we saw
beautiful scenery.

We were in bed by 9pm.
Even me.
