The “Make A Wish” Beard

make a wish
I thought this would be a good morale booster.
Then, he stabbed me in the back.

When I first moved here to help Colin,
I had a lot of ideas to help keep him…
…entertained.

One of the ideas
was “Make a Wish” cards.

On one side,
they had the “Make a Wish” logo.

On the other,
there were blank lines
that Colin could fill out.

The idea was
that he could make people do things
for his own amusement.

I imagined him making people eat questionable foods.
Stunts that would usually be reserved for dares.
You know, light entertainment.
And you couldn’t deny him.
After all, its a cancer wish.

Colin had other plans.
I handed him the cards.
He handed them back
and said, “Grow a beard.”

He didn’t even bother filling it out.
I should have known it was coming.
He had been riding me since I moved here.

I told him they made me feel dirty.
Beards itched.
But he wasn’t having it.

Apparently, its a Richmond, VA requirement.
You are not considered a man
unless you have a beard.

And that is how I went from this:
See Colin’s mischievious smile.
He was planning it all along.

To date,
Colin has not asked for anything else with the cards.

But, if you know someone
who needs a positive outlet,
you can download my cards here:
