Somnephilia
It means the “Love of Sleep.”
It’s not that he’s sleepy for complicated medical side effects.
He’s tired because he doesn’t sleep through the night.
Between the discomfort he feels from half his body being numb, the increased need to pee from the steroids, irritating cats, and now the increased nausea, he’s just not sleeping very well.
He goes to sleep at 12:00.
He wakes up at 4 either to pee,
or because the cats are hungry.
They communicate this by smacking you in the face
or knocking your belongings in the flood.
His alarm goes off at 6:00.
Then again at 6:15.
Again at 6:30.
Again at 6:45.
Then he gets up.

We have since done some research and found that you are better off just setting your alarm to when you plan on actually getting up instead of one earlier than you know you’re going to get up, followed by one you are actually going to get up by.
It has something to do with the last hour of sleep being very relaxing and your interrupting it.
They call it fragmented sleep.
It’s actually bad for you and increases your sleep debt even though you think, time wise, you were asleep enough.
As far as irritating cats, I’ve just started feeding them at 4am so they don’t wake Colin and Christine up.
The steroid pee is subsiding, but nausea and numbness are gonna be here for a while.

A quick side note: Why a six foot four man continues to nap on a 5 foot couch, I will never understand.
Particularly, since there is a 7 foot couch on the other side of the room.
It does make him look like a giant though.
